Pilot Ocean Literacy Training Program for the Business Sector

This curriculum supports a programme for business, policy and education sectors on ocean science. It is informed by research and involved gathering multi-stakeholder data from every continent in the world (except Antarctica). The project culminated with an international training mission to Venice, Italy, and included expert panelists and case study presenters. Topics include links between business and the ocean, existing and emerging technologies, best practices, and principles of ocean literacy.

This document is a navigator for coordinators on how to engage the community, including how to recruit and train local volunteers. It also gives guidance on how to set up hubs. Included is a description of the general knowledge, skills, and attitudes required by volunteers to succeed in their role.

Water Quality Monitoring National Volunteer Guide

This simple, user-friendly guide helps volunteers succeed in their role by introducing key concepts in water quality along with relevant case studies. The guide also includes a detailed checklist for volunteers to track and demonstrate their competencies. Topics include safe water for recreation, water quality, safe handling, data collection, and indigenous ways of knowing about water. The guide includes a simplified water sampling procedure and a data collection tool appropriate for use in the field.
